The 16th Annual Chilliwack Pow Wow attracts 15,000 champions from all across Canada and the United States. Watch the Championship dancers as they dance their heart out for four grueling 7 - 12 hour sessions. Listen to the music provided by some of Americas best Drum Groups, where style, grace and unmatched singing capabilities will be pitted against the best of the best in this competition.

The Pow Wow has great selections of Native arts and crafts and traditional food from the northwest coast. Enjoy a feast of bannock and fish and rumor has it, there is a possibility of the Indian Ice cream returning this year.

The vision of this Pow Wow came from a group of First Nations high-school students who wanted to share their important culture and show the value of their traditions to the other students. The Pow Wow has attracted over 80,000 people, since the first one these students planned, in their high-school gymnasium 16 years ago.

The Master of Ceremonies will announce who is to dance, and when. Be aware that someone standing behind you may not be able to see over you, so make room, step aside, sit, or kneel if someone is behind you. Show respect to the flag and honor songs by standing during "Special" songs and continue to stand quietly until the song is completed.  Remove all hats while attending.

Respect the traditions and if at any time you are uncertain of procedure or etiquette, please check with the MC, Arena Director, or Head Singer. They will be glad to help you with your questions.

If taking pictures, asked the dancer first. Remember common courtesy and ask permission.  This is even more important when the dancers are “off” the floor, as this is their own time and space. Group photographs are usually alright to take, but ask the committee first.
