Xa:ytem is the sacred site of a 9,000 year old Coast Salish village located one and a half hours east of Vancouver on the North bank of the Fraser River. The Sto:lo Nation has the only sacred transformer rock site in Canada that is available for the public to access and is home to the oldest house in British Columbia, older than the Egyptian Pyramids.

 

The seven-hour group tour includes a Salmon lunch and return transportation between Vancouver hotels and Xa:ytem

There are two pit-houses, a long house and a carving shed at this powerful ”Singing Rock” site. You will sample a part of Stó:lo life while participating with First Nation tour guides in traditional activities such as Salish weaving and adzing a dug-out canoe. Xa:ytem’s Gift Gallery offers quality native art, silver and gold jewelry, cedar weavings and carvings, bent boxes, drums, books and clothing. Your six hour tour includes a Salmon lunch and tour has Vancouver hotel drop-off.

A total of two and a half hours is spent at the venue with a guided site tour, barbecue lunch and traditional activities of Salish weaving and adzing a dug-out canoe. The remainder of the time is with a guide first Nation guide on the motorcoach supplying interpretive history and legends of the territories traveled through on this excursion The bus will depart the site to begin drop off to your Vancouver destination.
